Using VCbuspass is easy, just follow these simple steps:

  1. Purchase a reloadable card from one of our sales locations or online.
  2. Add a pass or stored value to your card during the initial purchase.
  3. When you board the bus, hold your card up to the card reader; the appropriate fare will be automatically deducted from your account and you never need to touch, tap or swipe the reader.
  4. Reload as needed and reuse your existing card.

I’m eligible for a fare discount program, how do I register for discount and purchase passes?
If you are eligible for a discounted fare please contact us at 1.800.438.1112 or email us at [email protected] and we will update your account. Once updated, the discounted fare amount will be deducted when using your card.  

What can I put on my VCbuspass card? 

  • 31-day passes (unlimited rides for 31 consecutive calendar days) 
  • Stored value (pay as you go) 

How can I check my stored value balance?
You can check your VCbuspass account’s stored value balance in the following ways: 

  • Visiting participating agency customer service locations or calling 1.800.438.1112 
  • Viewing the VCbuspass reader on board the bus after completing a fare payment  

How do I check my pass expiration date?
You can view the expiration date of any pass in your VCbuspass account in the following ways: 

  • Visiting participating agency customer service locations or calling 1.800.438.1112 
  • Viewing the VCbuspass reader on board the bus after completing a fare payment  

Is there a cost to get a VCbuspass Card?
No. Cards are free for a promotional period.  

Is the card reusable?  
Yes.  The VCbuspass is a permanent card and can be reloaded with passes and fares.

What is the advantage of registering my VCbuspass card?
Registering a VCbuspass card will protect your account if your card is lost, damaged, or stolen. When your account is registered, you can set it up to automatically reload your card, sign up to receive alerts about your account, or check your balance.  

Can I use this system anonymously?
Yes. If you do not register your card with an account, we cannot replace it if its lost, stolen, or damaged.  

What should I do if my VCbuspass Card is lost or stolen?
Call 800.438.1112 immediately to report that your VCbuspass Card has been lost or stolen. If you have registered your VCbuspass account, the stored value balance and passes are protected after the loss is reported to us. A fee for lost cards may apply. 

Can my family or friends use my VCbuspass Pass Card?
No. To use VCbuspass, each passenger must have and use his/her own VCbuspass Card. 

What happens if the VCbuspass reader can’t read my VCbuspass card?
It is likely that your VCbuspass card is damaged. Contact 800.438.1112. 

Can I add more than one type of pass and/or stored value to my VCbuspass?
Yes. A VCbuspass account can include stored value and up to three months of passes.  

If I have more than one type of pass or passes and stored value in my VCbuspass account, can I designate the order they should be used to pay fares?
In the event your VCbuspass account contains multiple valid fare products and transfer rights, your fare will automatically be paid using fare products in the following order:  

  1. Calendar-based passes – period passes 
  2. Transfers 
  3. Trip-based passes  
  4. Stored value 

In the coming weeks, you will be able to reload your VCbuspass card online as well as use the Umo mobility app to pay for fares and passes on your mobile device.
