| Construction Phasing Overview (*subject to change) | ||
|---|---|---|
| Phase | Dates | Summary |
| Phase 1 | Sep 2026 | This phase replaces a section of the station’s sidewalk and curb with new, ADA-compliant ramps, walkways, and detectable warning surfaces (the textured yellow strips that alert visually impaired riders to platform edges). A nearby utility box and the hospital directional sign will also be relocated to make room for the improvements. |
| Phase 2 | Sep 2026 – Nov 2026 | This phase brings a section of the platform surface into compliance by regrading it to meet the required accessibility slope, and rebuilds the adjoining sidewalk and curb ramp. The station bench and the Amtrak passenger lift will be temporarily relocated during construction and reinstalled once the work is complete. |
| Phase 3 | Nov 2026 – Feb 2027 | This is the most extensive phase of the project, during which crews will construct the station’s new accessible boarding platform, including a raised “mini-high” platform, handrailing, and updated surface markings, to allow riders using wheelchairs or mobility devices to board trains safely and independently. |
| Phase 4 | Feb 2027 – Mar 2027 | This phase rebuilds another section of sidewalk and curb ramp and includes relocating a light pole and constructing its new foundation, along with routine landscaping and fencing restoration. |
| Phase 5 | Mar 2027 – May 2027 | This final construction phase focuses on bringing the station’s remaining rider amenities (i.e. the courtesy phone, bike rack, crosswalk buttons, and bollards) up to current accessibility standards, along with the last stretch of sidewalk and curb ramp work. |
| Close-Out | May 2027 – July 2027 | This period covers final signage installation and a punchlist walkthrough to confirm all work meets project standards. |
